Fundamentals, what do you mean by fundamentals. The philosophy of Local’s Gym is that if you look at every discipline, running, gymnastics, rowing, weight lifting, boxing, etc. You find that the basics involved are what make the athletes most developed for their sport of choice.
Here’s the good part, only when you take a discipline to it’s limit do the results not mimic what people really want out of fitness. Do people want to run, most would say yes, but not marathons. Do people what to be able to do a wide variety of bodyweight movements, push-ups, pull-ups, dips, jumps, somersaults, sit-ups. It’s only when you have to don the leotard do people get leery of gymnastics. Do people want to be long muscled like rowers? Yes, but not by spending time in freezing cold river water getting yelled at by their Coxswain!
You see my point – by focusing training on only the fundamentals of many many disciplines can people develop a blended whole fitness (and the body to look it) without sacrificing what the upper echelons of sport demand.
At Local’s our philosophy is to challenge you (the client) to learn new movements and patterns, and to work to your potential every workout you will never get bored and you will be amazed at the results of functionally unified training instead of hamster machine training.
