There is a significant difference between novelty essential oils that may simply smell good and those that are therapeutic-grade.

Independent laboratory testing proves that Young Living essential oils meet and often exceed industry requirements (AFNOR / ISO).  As stewards of nature’s plant remedies we maintain a higher internal standard than the industry  standard requirements. This standard is known as “therapeutic-grade.”

In order to achieve therapeutic-grade classification, each essential oil must  achieve the designation  naturally, without excess manipulation and refinement, and meet specific  criteria in four key areas: Plants, Preparation, Purity, and Potency.

This is just one way in which Young Living is in the forefront of the essential oil industry, we have been and will continue setting the standard. Others have said, “Young Living has been very instrumental in creating the standards by which the industry can go on.” I can only imagine the quality we’d be stuck with if it weren’t for Young Living.

Young Living devised the classification, therapeutic-grade, due to the lax and quite often abused and under-deserved titles of “pure” and “all-natural” that lesser quality essential oil companies are assigning their novelty products which contain little if any therapeutic benefit.

Did you know?

That I or anyone can go into a lab and create a scented liquid using all-synthetic chemicals and label the finished product a “pure essential oil”?  Thats because there is no regulation  on essential oils. Anyone  can make a scent from any material an call it an essential oil.

What does that mean to the consumer?

Quite simply, buyer beware!

Any essential oil in the world that is the same quality as Young Living WILL cost the same as a Young Living essential oil. Being that only about 2% of the essential oil produced in the world is of this higher quality it is difficult to obtain the “real deal.”

I personally would never diffuse, apply topically, or take internally any of the essential oils sold on the market that didn’t come from Young Living. The reason I feel so strongly about this is because I don’t know of any company, other than Young Living, that doesn’t tinker with their essential oils to extend them in one form or another.

That also means that no one should use an essential oil the same way you would use a Young Living oil. These essential oils are far more than aromatic and are quite powerful. A lesser quality essential oil can mean disastrous results.

Where can you find Young Living Essential Oils?

One place is through my website: TheVeryEssence.com

To buy Young Living  essential oils  each customer has a “sponsor”  -  the role of the sponsor is to assist the customer in how to use their essential oils properly. Yes, there is a learning curve, it’s fun and easy when you have good materials to work from and someone guiding you.

I see myself as someone who is helping people in today’s world “regain” a lot of the wisdom that has been lost over recent decades. We evolved with plants and essential oils. Essential oils were used even before ancient man used dried herbs for healing. Novelty and adulterated aromatherapy products these are NOT!

Years ago, when I was studying classical Feng Shui we also covered many other components that tied into how our  surroundings affected  our well-being and lives in general.  One of those was  “clutter” – how the stuff in our homes  affects the energy , or “chi”,  of our  comfy  abodes.

I knew that having a lot of stuff in the home made life challenging at times, like when you’re in a hurry and can’t find something – the more stuff there is the longer it takes to find that thing, the more nooks and crannies it can hide. Sometimes, we can have so much stuff that it’s difficult to find a place to sit, sleep, and even walk.

The “BIG” picture in fact goes way beyond our homes. The parts we never see because they aren’t necessarily happening in our backyards… the parts we never see, or even hear about because quite often they are intentionally hidden from our view and knowledge.

A Recipe for Cleansing our Souls, Minds, Lives and Environment

Here’s a link to a 20 minute film on The Story of STUFF that is so well done that I hope one day it will win awards and be shown in every school… rather than teachers teaching our kids how to get the “most” for their money in a math assignment. The video can be purchased at The Story of STUFF website – Annie Leonard even provides on her site ideas for how to host viewing parties, what a terrific idea!

Watching the film made me feel good about what I’ve known for some time. It has also provided me a means to share the information – BRAVO!

Did you know that essential oils may be the oldest and some of the most powerful healing agents known throughout history?

Some scientists believe that essential oils were first used in China or India, while other researchers believe that Egyptians were first to discover the healing properties of essential oils. The Egyptians created fragrances for personal use as well as for ritualistic and ceremonial use in temples and pyramids. Ancient Egyptians and Babylonians used the oils for medicinal purposes long before the individual herbs were studied for medical use.

Translations of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts describe how priests and physicians used essential oils thousands of years before the time of Christ. The precious oils of frankincense, myrrh, galbanum, rosemary, hyssop, cassia, cinnamon, and spikenard were used extensively for anointing and healing the sick.

There are over a hundred references to aromatics in the Bible. Biblical prophets appear to have recognized that essential oils protected their bodies from disease.

Why did the Wise men bring the precious substances of frankincense and myrrh to the Christ child?

Frankincense was well known during the time of Christ for its anointing and healing powers and is now being researched and used therapeutically in European and American hospitals. The Romans fumigated and diffused oils in their temples and political buildings and scented their baths with oils followed by a fragrant oil massage.

The ancient Arabian people began to study the chemical properties of essential oils. They developed and refined the distillation process. They extracted rose oil and rose water, which were very popular in the Middle East at that time. Kings would barter and buy land, gold and slaves with their crudely extracted oils. The oils were more valuable than gold.

Europeans did not produce essential oils until the 12th century. During the Medieval plague of the 15 the century, four thieves in Marsilles, France, were able to rob the dead and dying without becoming infected. When finally captured, the men reportedly admitted to creating a concoction that contained 50 cloves and the herb rosemary, along with other aromatics. They rubbed this potion on their hands, ears, and temples. The secret of the thieves was made public and the formula was posted in the city.

In 1817 the 870-foot-long Ebers Papyrus was discovered. Dating back to 1500 B.C., it was called a medicinal scroll. It mentioned over 800 herbal prescriptions and remedies. Other scrolls indicate that the Egyptians had a high success rate in treating as many as 81 different diseases. Many mixtures they used contained myrrh oil and honey. Myrrh was used for embalming because of its effectiveness in preventing bacterial growth.

When King Tutankhamen’s tomb was opened in 1922, some 50 alabaster jars designed to hold 350 liters of oil were discovered. While tomb robbers had stolen nearly all of the precious oils, some of the jars still contained remains of their original contents. The large cache of plundered oil jars documents how valuable fragrant oils were in this ancient civilization. Sadly, during the Dark Ages, with the burning of libraries in Alexandria and other places, much of the knowledge of essential oils and their uses were lost…until now.

This is why I love what I do, it feels so gratifying to know I am playing a large part in helping others reclaim such an important aspect  of our history and well-being.
